About the Domestic
Abuse Court Advocacy
DACA Accreditation Project
The Domestic Abuse Court Advocacy (DACA) Accreditation project was established in March 2022. It is a three year project funded by the Scottish Government and run in partnership with SafeLives Scotland and ASSIST
Strategic Aims
For all individuals throughout Scotland to have the opportunity to access accredited criminal domestic abuse court advocacy services when required
For clients to feel safer, heard and more empowered in the criminal court process in Scotland
To allow professionals to feel more confident in how to best support victims and survivors of domestic abuse to navigate a complex justice system
To increase the effectiveness, validity, visibility and consistency of the domestic abuse court advocacy role across Scotland
Project Outputs
To establish domestic abuse court advocacy standards
To create an accreditation and mentoring framework for DACA services
To create and deliver an IDAA training block on domestic abuse court advocacy
To support new and emerging domestic abuse court advocacy services

The DACA Accreditation project understands that domestic abuse is an intersectional gendered issue. We recognise that society is not equal, and power and privilege co-exist both between genders, and within genders.
The DACA team are working towards LGBT Youth Scotland’s charter mark.
